I’M BAAACK. Did ya miss me?
Okay, so, technically we did get back last Thursday, but Nathan was on vacation until today. So I figured I could use those days as “vacation” days too. But now I’m back and I have so much to post about!
Since we ate at so many yummy places in Vegas that we don’t normally get to eat at, I’ll do an ENTIRE POST ON FOOD later this week! Yay!
On Sunday, we drove to St. George, Utah. We left at about 5:30 ish and got there at about 4. The hotel we stayed at was The Holiday Inn with the convention center. It was right off the highway which made it a perfect spot.
It was a beautiful hotel with a great restaurant. (I’ll talk about it in the food post. YUM!).
I do have to admit, that I thought St George was going to be so much “prettier” than it actually was. (I’m a Colorado native. So I’m a little biased.)
We left at around 9:30 and got into Vegas at about 12. It was craziness just trying to get into the city! I’ve drove to and through Vegas many times so I was expecting this. I was able to do mobile check in the night before so I put our expected arrival time. The hotel, Monte Carlo, would then email me when our room was available. This was convenient. (I’ll also be posting a review on the hotel this week!)
We took a couple of shooters and left our stuff in the car until we could check in.
Then the first thing we did was head to Earl of Sandwich! And we walked around the Miracle Mile Shops. We made a stop at Fat Tuesday’s mostly so we could get our collectible cups.
Our room was ready at about 1:30. So we ventured back to the hotel and checked in. We moved our items into our room and then began to walk around the town. We stayed a little buzzed all day and it was pretty fun.
We of course, went back to where it all started. The Excalibur Hotel & Casino. I don’t recommend it, (unless you are visiting with children) but it does hold a special place in my heart.
We walked 12 miles the first day. And at night it was PACKED! The last two times we went to Vegas (August 2015 and April 2013) were no where near this bad. So if you are planning a vacation to Las Vegas, DO NOT GO IN JUNE.
We had dinner at the amazing (New York Pizzeria) pizza place inside of the New York, New York.
I finally went inside of the Paris Hotel!
We woke up and walked to the Excalibur to get some Krispy Kreme donuts. (A 1 mile walk from our hotel room to Krispy Kreme!)
We had lunch at IN N OUT BURGER!
We had dinner at the Buffet in the Monte Carlo.
We bought some cute Harley Davidson shirts.
It was 117 degrees out! It was miserable. We would drink and get a slight buzz for maybe thirty minutes and then it would fade away. It was just too hot to enjoy ourselves too much. We walked in and out of a lot of hotels we had never been inside of. I bought a gorgeous notebook and pen from a shop in The Paris Hotel (MY NEW FAVORITE HOTEL FYI!).
We went to the Flamingo, of course, and spent some time looking at their fish and the Pink Flamingos. (Fun fact: When I was about 5 or 6 my dad’s coworker bought me a GIANT stuffed pink flamingo! It was my favorite stuffed animal for years!)
We got some Macroons from a store in the Venetian. (OUR NEW FAVORITE COOKIES. WHERE CAN I GET A MACROON AROUND HERE?!)
We also invented a drink- The Absolute Rockstar. It’s amazing and can get you in trouble if you aren’t careful. But you NEED to try it! If you do, let me know what you think!
We took it easy and stayed closer to our hotel. We went into M&M World and watched a 3D movie and then bought some M&M’s that said “Brodey” and “Hailey”. We even through in some Las Vegas ones!
We ate lunch at Earl of Sandwich, again. (You’ll find out why in my food blog!)
Then we had dinner at The Hard Rock Cafe and bought a couple Hard Rock Cafe shirts.
We were absolutely drained and couldn’t figure out how people can spend a week or more here.
We left at 5:15 and got home at about 7:00.
We stopped at Blimpie’s in a tiny town in Utah.
We also drove through a town that was covered in smoke from the growing fire in Utah.
My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by this fire.
And we were happier than ever to get home.
All in all, our trip was amazing. We walked 35 miles in 3 days. We won a lot and spent a lot. We ate great food. But most of all, we had a blast spending some much needed alone time together and making new memories. We didn’t get to a show or a bar this time, but it’s okay because we experienced many firsts together and I think it might have been the best time I’ve ever had in Las Vegas.
See you in 2019, Vegas.
