Happy Birthday To The World’s BEST Husband

It’s your BIRTHDAY! YAY! I suppose a Facebook post on your wall would have sufficed. But I felt it wasn’t enough. You deserve so much more for everything that you do for me and for our family. I hope this blog will put a smile on your face, on your special day.

Today, you turn 27. Today marks the 5th birthday of yours that we have spent together. And I cannot wait to celebrate more of them.

I want you to know how much you mean to me. I know I tell you often, but I feel sometimes that writing it all out helps. Though there will never be enough words in the English language (or really any language) to fully express to you how I feel.

You’re my world, Nathan. My stars, my moon, the center of my universe. (Our children are too, but today I’m talking about you. :))

In the last 5 years, 8 months, 26 days (thank you countdown app) we have been through SO much together. More than most people go through in such a short time. But we’ve always gotten through everything. We come out on top.

Shinedown-If You Only Knew

My Favorite Part: “It’s 4:03 and I can’t sleep without you next to me, I toss and turn like the see. If I drown tonight, bring me back to life. Breathe your breath in me. The only thing I still believe in is you.”

Why: This song, the above lyrics specifically, remind me of when you are in Casper.

Lee Brice-Hard To Love

My Favorite Part: “I’m hard to love, hard to love. Oh, I don’t make it easy. I couldn’t do it if I stood where you stood. I’m hard to love, hard to love. You say that you need me. I don’t deserve it, but I love that you love me good. Love me good.”

Why: I’m never going to NOT love this song. It’s going to forever be one of our songs. This song came out about 6 months into our relationship so it’s always had a special place in my heart. We have been through so much and have always came out on top. No matter what. We’ve gotten through any rough patch that married couples have, I believe, because of the amount of love we have for each other.

Eli Young Band-Crazy Girl

My Favorite Part: “Baby why you wanna cry? You really outta know that I, just have to walk away sometimes. We’re gonna do what lovers do. We’re gonna have a fight or two. But I ain’t ever changing my mind. Crazy girl, don’t you know that I love you? And I wouldn’t dream of goin’ nowhere. Silly woman, come here, let me hold you. Have I told you lately, I love you like crazy girl?”

Why: I’m never going to NOT love this song. It came out around the time we started dating but I remember the first time I actually listened to the lyrics was the same day we had our very first argument. And I just knew that we would be okay. Because couples fight. It’s whether you let it tear you apart that makes or breaks you.

Ed Sheeran-Photograph

My Favorite Part: “And if you hurt me, that’s okay baby. Only words bleed. Inside these pages, you just hold me. And I won’t ever let you go. When I’m away, I will remember how you kissed me, under the lamppost back on sixth street. Hearing you whisper through the phone, ‘wait for me to come home.'”

Why: The first time I really listened to this song was when you had to go to Texas for work right after we got home from Vegas. I just thought it fit us so much that I listened to it on repeat until you got home later that week. <3

Papa Roach-No Matter What

My Favorite Part: “I need you, right here. By my side. You’re everything I’m not in my life. We’re indestructible, we are untouchable. Nothing can take us down tonight. You are so beautiful. It should be criminal that you could be mine. And we will make it out alive. I promise you this love will never die. No matter what. I got your back. I’ll take a bullet for you if it comes to that. I swear to god, that in the bitter end, we’re gonna be the last ones standing.”

Why: It’s a deep song that reflects our relationship. You are my best friend and I would do anything in the world for you. I seriously would take a bullet for you if it came down to it. You are my soulmate.

Gary Allan-I Can Love You

My Favorite Part: “I can’t stop your heart from breaking. Can’t make right mistakes we’ve made. Can’t dry your crying eyes, for my little angels sake. I can’t make the sun keep smiling. Or blow away the clouds. There’s some things in this old world girl (boy), I can’t do nothin’ bout. But I can love you. Like I’ve always done. And when the hard times come a knocking, honey you won’t ever see me run. I won’t leave you, when you need a friend. Can’t make the bad days that much better. Baby then they’ve ever been, but I can love you.”

Why: The first time I really listened to these lyrics, the first time they really hit home for me was right before your mom’s funeral. It hit me hard because it’s so true. I wanted nothing more than to help you get through everything. To help your heart stop breaking and to make you feel some-what whole again no matter what. I knew there was nothing I could do to take the pain away except be there for you. And that’s what I did and will continue to do for the rest of my life.

There’s so many more songs, but this post would just become way too long. I love you more than words can ever express babe. I love you more than any song could ever express (which is why I have about 500,000 that make me think of you.) You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me. So here’s to you birthday boy. I hope it’s an amazing day!
