BBQ Pulled Pork Recipe

I’m not a huge fan of pulled pork, but my husband is. I get tired of so much red meat so I try to mix it up. I cooked some pulled pork last night, from scratch and let me tell you, IT WAS THE BEST DANG PULLED PORK I HAVE EVER HAD!

My husband even said the same thing, which means  A LOT. Since, like I said, he loves pulled pork!

Besides the BBQ sauce, this is paleo friendly! (

What You Need-

Crockpot

4-5 lb pork shoulder

1 medium onion sliced

2 tbs chili powder

3 tbs sea salt

2.5 tsp garlic powder

2 tsp pepper

2 tsp cumin

2 tsp onion powder

2 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp cayenne pepper

1 can chipotle peppers in adobo sauce

1 jar BBQ sauce

What You Do-

Defrost the pork shoulder over night. (You want to make sure it’s defrosted when you put it in your crock pot!)

Cut the onion into slices (don’t you dice!) and place the slices in the bottom of your crock pot.

Mix the chili powder, sea salt, garlic powder, pepper, cumin, onion powder, paprika and cayenne pepper in a bowl.

Then you rub the pork shoulder with the seasonings. Make sure to cover every inch so that the seasonings really soak in.

Place the now seasoned pork shoulder into the crock pot, on top of the onions.

Open the can of chipotle peppers and pour over the pork shoulder making sure to evenly coat it in the sauce. (Make sure to remove a few of the peppers if you don’t want it too spicy!)

Pour 1.5 cups of BBQ sauce on top.

Turn your crockpot on low and let it cook for 6-8 hours. (I did 7 and it was perfect!)

take out the pork shoulder, and shred it, place the shredded pork back into the crock pot and let cook for 10 more minutes (to let it soak up the flavors even more!).

Put the meat on bread or in a lettuce wrap! Add a drizzle of BBQ sauce on top and enjoy!
